The Rocky River Watershed Council (RRWC) is a grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the river, its tributaries, and its watershed. The RRWC is proud to offer a $1,000 scholarship to one deserving college or high school student in their pursuit of environmental education. There may be an additional $1,000 scholarship awarded to another deserving student with the approval of the Board of Directors.


Applicants are evaluated based on their qualifications, interests, and potential to contribute to environmental health and sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Recognizes the importance of and engages in S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)

• Is highly motivated to pursue their chosen subject.

• Works well with a team and takes initiative

• Has volunteer experience in environmental activities

• Is considering or pursuing career paths in environmental protection fields
  
   

Applicants must not have received prior scholarships or funding from RRWC.
 

• Interested applicants must submit a one to two page letter regarding their career goals, past environmental volunteer work, and any significant achievements.

• Applicants must also include a minimum of one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community member.

• Applicants must be willing to interview with RRWC Board of Directors if requested.

• Permission to allow public release of photos and resume highlights is requested of a winning candidate (if candidates have concerns about sharing information please still apply, include a note on your application, and our Board members will reach out to discuss it if you are selected for the scholarship – no information will be shared publicly prior to receiving the applicant’s consent).

• Include on your application complete contact information: address, phone number, and email.

• Applications must be submitted in one single PDF file.

• Applicant submissions must be emailed on or before April 1st, 2026. Applicants will be notified by May 1st, 2026.
