Cuyahoga SWCD Awarded Ohio EPA SWIF Grant for Baldwin Creek Dam Removal Cuyahoga SWCD has received a $147,000 Grant through the Ohio EPA Surface Water Improvement Fund (SWIF). The grant will fund the removal of three low-head dams along the lower 0.5 miles of Baldwin Creek in Berea. The project will restore fish passage in lower Baldwin Creek, enhance habitat and reconnect populations of the state-threatened Bigmouth Shiner (Notropis dorsalis) in Baldwin Creek and the East Branch.
RRWC Presents Grant Accomplishments to NEORSD On Thursday, August 26 the RRWC presented accomplishments completed under the 2010 NEORSD Watershed grant. Cuyahoga SWCD Presents Katie Spotz—Row for Water After 70 days alone at sea, 22 year-old Katie Spotz became the youngest person ever to row an ocean solo. No stranger to overcoming challenges, Katie has run across deserts, cycled across America, and she is the first person to swim the 325-mile Allegheny River. As part of the challenge, Katie partnered with the Blue Planet Network to help a billion people gain access to safe drinking water for life.
